welcome
Hello and welcome to Freedom to Function. I am a holistic massage therapist based in Falmouth, Cornwall. I aspire to offer tailor-made holistic treatments in a calm and peaceful space.
I know how busy and stressful modern life can be. My goal is to carve out a moment in your day where you can relax, reconnect with yourself and leave feeling rejuvenated and restored.
An experience that is simply for you.
I offer a variety of different treatments located in my beautiful garden studio in Falmouth. I am a short walk away from Penmere train station which has major rail links to Truro, Plymouth & London. If you fancy a stroll on the beach after a relaxing massage, Swanpool and Gyllynvase beaches are only a 15 minute walk away or maybe a trip into town for some retail therapy. Falmouth town centre is a short 10 minute drive, or 25 minutes walk, away.
I also work at The Wellness Hub clinic in Falmouth on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. This is a lovely and relaxing space on the outskirts of town with free parking.
At Freedom to Function I wish to create a full sensory experience, from the moment you walk down the steps into my little tranquil garden and enter the studio for the first time. Allow yourself time to escape from the world outside surrounded by the aroma of essential oils, soothing music and a cosy heated blanket on a cold day. I offer bespoke massage treatments tailored to your needs. I pride myself in offering friendly and professional treatments in a safe, comfortable & relaxing space.
my journey
I had practised Pilates and Yoga since I was a teenager and had a fascination with the human body in motion. Having benefited from a variety of massages over the years and wanting a more ‘hands on’ career, I qualified in Sports Massage at Bath Spa University in 2017. I have worked as a massage therapist in a variety of different environments ranging from sporting events, local businesses, spas and a chiropractic clinic.
With an increasing thirst to expand my knowledge while building on the foundation of soft tissue work, I am also undertaking a master’s degree in osteopathic medicine at Plymouth Marjon University. I took a break from my studies to have a baby and decided this was the perfect opportunity to expand my holistic therapies, offering Deep Tissue, Swedish, Hot Stone and Pregnancy Massage. I will be returning to my degree in September 2023.
I recognise that many of the ailments that people suffer from are caused by poor posture, bad habits and stresses to the body that are brought about through “normal life” which can affect physical and mental well-being. My ultimate vision in the future is to provide an integrated service to clients which combines osteopathic diagnosis and treatment, remedial & holistic massage and Pilates exercises to maintain posture and optimum functioning of the musculo-skeletal system.
During my pregnancy and post-natal journey over the last year, I noticed a lack of both physical and mental support for women throughout this momentous shift in their life. This has motivated me to broaden my knowledge and skills in women’s health & wellbeing and I hope to specialise within this field in my future career.
